Exterior restoration of a folk Victorian in Granville, OH, but the interior leaves the Victorian era behind and is 21st century modern minimalist. The house is converted to a one-bedroom guest house for visiting faculty with an open public floor plan for fundraising events. The resulting 2,900-sq ft light-infused home largely maintains the original footprint and building envelope, but lives large. The renewed main floor spaces; living, dining and kitchen connect gracefully together with framed vistas to the landscape in between. Even the finely executed minimalist kitchen and aerie-like, metal and glass box addition feel like purposeful insertions of art. The distribution of the remaining program of master bedroom and bath on the second level and wine cellar, office and media room at the walk-out basement level further defines the home’s inner sanctum and connection to the site.
