BKI Woodworks receives two Wood Diamond Awards
The Cabinet Makers Association, a national professional woodworkers association, honors its members through their Wood Diamond Awards competition. Two of our kitchen projects received awards in this year’s competition. We don't enter competitions often, so when we do, it's nice to be recognized by other professionals for the work we do for our clients.
We are very pleased to have received 1st place for this kitchen designed by Arch 11 as a focal point in a new, urban townhome. We built full access, frameless cabinets with full overlay doors and drawer fronts of matte acrylic and wood veneer. At the island we built the solid Ash dining table and clad the back side with matte acrylic. The acrylic was also used for the appliance front panels and for removable access panels covering the hvac system above the cabinets. To add to the simple, clean contemporary look an integral continuous metal channel was used at the base cabinets and the use of surface pulls was limited to just the appliances.
3rd Place Kitchen
We also received a 3rd place award for a second kitchen in Denver. The homeowner/architect chose high gloss acrylic, wood veneer, and stainless steel for his contemporary vision. The goal for this kitchen was to make the entire kitchen wall a contemporary feature wall in a very bright and open multi-use room. We built full access, frameless cabinets with full overlay doors and drawer fronts of high gloss acrylic for the wall cabinets and appliance panels and wood laminate for the base cabinets. The wall cabinets are bi-fold awning style. Cabinet pulls are a very slim profile edge pull to maximize the contemporary look. Once again we covered the hvac system that ran horizontally across the top of the cabinets with panels to match. The stainless steel backsplash added one more touch to making the entire wall a feature.
